Wolong Electric Group has unveiled a new 50MVar distributed synchronous compensator to strengthen electrical grid stability
On May 16, 2026, Wolong Electric Group – through its Nanyang Explosion-Proof Group – officially released the 50MVar 2-pole distributed synchronous compensator (also known as a synchronous condenser).
Why it matters: As a core asset for renewable energy stations and UHV DC transmission systems, this compensator delivers fast bidirectional reactive power regulation, supplies grid inertia, and boosts short-circuit capacity – all critical for integrating high shares of renewables.
Key performance highlights: • Efficiency loss: 1.39% (beats China national standard of 1.6%) → saves ~400,000 kWh/year per unit • Shaft vibration: ≤30μm (national standard: 65μm) • Low temperature rise: rotor 60K / stator 46K
The China Machinery Industry Federation has recognized the technology as reaching international advanced standards, with full intellectual property protection. The Wolong-ATB Group is dedicated to providing efficient, reliable, and cost-optimized voltage stabilization & reactive power solutions for renewable energy owners and grid operators.
